William A. Vance, Ph.D., Director
The Executive Voice is led by Dr. Vance, a corporate linguist who teaches business communication and media training at Yale University. Dr. Vance also leads the Professional Communications Center at the Yale School of Management. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago and a doctorate in linguistics from Yale University. His books and articles have treated topics in business communication, accent modification, cognition, and managerial coaching. As a consultant, Dr. Vance addresses the communication strategies of individuals and organizations worldwide.
Kathleen Ellis
Kathleen works with clients in a variety of sectors, ranging from pharmaceutical research to finance to non-profit organizations. Her workshops have addressed leadership style, employee appraisal systems, time management, email writing, and presentation skills. As a coach, Kathleen draws up on her experience as a seasoned writer, editor, and marketing consultant to provide a full spectrum of services, including managerial training and corporate communication. She works with clients to develop more sophisticated leadership skills that align with their core strengths and advance their career goals.
Bahareh Lampert, Ph.D.
Bahareh specializes in writing and multi-cultural communication. Born in Germany and fluent in Farsi, she completed her doctoral work at the University of Wisconsin and now holds adjunct positions at Quinnipiac University and at Yale University, where she works closely with internationals. Her approach to coaching focuses on helping clients to expand the formal and analytical tools that they use to express their ideas to key constituencies.
Stephen Nickson
Stephen brings a wealth of experience to his coaching. He has been a managing editor at Executive Business Media and Risk Management magazine, and has held editorial positions with the New York Times and at Merrill Lynch. He coaches writers and speakers in the fields of architecture, finance, technology, insurance, education, real estate, travel, and entertainment. Stephen infuses his coaching with a collaborative style that allows clients to identify their strengths and to explore new strategies in communication.
Julie Vance
With training in psychology and linguistics, Julie is a specialist in accent modification and communication strategy. She has been a researcher at the Einstein Medical Center and has designed training programs for professionals in the sciences and in business. As a coach in both academic and corporate settings, she has helped thousands of people to become more effective in their interpersonal communication and in their professional image. Her coaching approach shows clients how to overcome their barriers to intelligibility and persuasion, while building credibility with their colleagues.
